sovereignty - The supreme, absolute, and uncontrollable power by which any independent state is governed; supreme political authority; the supreme will; paramount control of the constitution and frame of government and its administration; the self-sufficient source of political power, from which all specific political powers are derived; the international independence of a state, combined with the right and power of regulating its internal affairs without foreign dictation; also a political society, or state, which is sovereign and independent. The power to do everything in a state without accountability,  to make laws, to execute and to apply them, to impose and collect taxes and levy contributions,

to make war or peace, to form treaties of alliance or of commerce with foreign nations, and the like. Sovereignty in government is that public authority which directs or orders what is to be done by each member associated in relation to the end of the association. It is the supreme power by which any citizen is governed and is the person or body of persons in the state to whom there is politically no superior. The

By "sovereignty" in its largest sense is meant supreme, absolute, uncontrollable power, the absolute right to govern. The word which by itself comes nearest to being the definition of sovereignty" is will or volition as applied to political affairs. City of Bisbee v. Cochise County, 52 Ariz. 1, 78 P.2d 982, 986.

To put this in layman's term, a sovereign is one who is not subject to anyone.  NOT A SLAVE!

It doesn't matter what gender, race, social status, religion, highest level of education, or sexual orientation. NO human being possesses more rights than another human being. One cannot delegate  a right to another that themselves do not possess. If one human cannot take the life or property of another human, that same human cannot grant that right to another human. This doesn't mater if that human calls himself a president, king, or government.

You were born sovereign because as a sentient being created by God, you were endowed with unalienable rights. God gifted you with these rights, not another human being. Let us turn to the book of Genesis in the Holy Bible:

"Furthermore, God said, Let us make man in our image according to our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heaven, and over the beasts ,and over all the earth, and over everything that creepeth and moveth on the earth. Thus God created the man in his image:  in the image of God created He him: He created them male and female. And God blessed them, and God said to them, Bring forth fruit, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it,  and rule over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heaven, and over every beast that moveth upon the earth."
-Genesis 1:26-28 (1599 Geneva Bible)

One thing that you must take note of is that God never said that we were to have dominion over each other. This earth was given to use by our Creator God. Within these verses it is stated that all men (and women) are created equal. The ultimate sovereign is God, our Creator. It is He to whom all human beings are subject. It is to He that all human beings must answer to.

Now you may be wondering, if we are born sovereign as defined earlier, why are we subject to God, our Creator? The answer can be summed up in  this one sentence: That which you create, you control. God created us, hence, we are accountable to Him. In addition, He also created the heaven and the earth. Hence, He controls those as well. It may be a blow to the ego, but we must accept this fact. If we don't fall under God, we fall to the rule of men.

Although we were originally born sovereign, unfortunately our sovereignty was surrendered due to our ignorance and lack of knowledge.

"My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge: because thou hast refused knowledge, I will also refuse thee that thou shalt be no Priest to me: and seeing that thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."
-Hosea 4:6 (1599 Geneva Bible)

As stated in Hosea, people have forgotten the law of God, and because of that, we have paid a steep price and have fallen to the dictates of humans who lust for power and desire to control other humans. We have lost our sovereignty on an individual and collective basis. We will go into detail into how this has happen as your participate in the coursework here at MMU.
